Punjab Assembly on Tuesday unanimously demanded stern action against the quacks while voicing concern over the havoc they are playing with the lives of citizens.
A resolution of public interest moved by PTI MPA Shenila Ruth on the Private Members Day stated that quacks practicing in the province were playing havoc with the lives of patients as most of them had either turned handicapped or lost their lives due to the wrong treatment. The resolution demanded stern action against quacks which was passed unanimously by the House.
Moreover, a resolution was moved by PML-N legislator Nighat Nasir Sheikh demanding construction of a bridge between medicine market and Victoria Hospital, situated on Circular Road, Bahawalpur, to facilitate the people.
Meanwhile, Jamaat e Islami Parliamentary leader Dr Waseem Akhter staged walkout in protest after his resolution demanding exemption of tax on agricultural income up to Rs 0.4 million and complete exemption on 12 acres was turned down. The law minister while responding to the resolution moved by Dr Waseem Akhter said that already the government had exempted agri income from tax and it was imposed only on those who didn’t file their tax returns.
Dr Waseem Akhter, however, expressed dissatisfaction over the answer and staged walkout in protest.
