ITU holds job fair

LAHORE

The first-ever job fair of Information Technology University (ITU) for its first ever batch of software, electrical engineers and master’s degree holders was held at the university’s Arfa Software Technology Park campus here on Tuesday.

ITU Vice-Chancellor and Adviser to Punjab Chief Minister Dr Umar Saif along with Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Chairman Dr Muhammad Nizamuddin inaugurated the job fair. ITU Registrar Zaheer Sarwar and other officials were also present. 

Addressing a large number of CEOs and representatives of the hiring companies of international repute, Dr Umar Saif said ITU Punjab had produced the first batch of 210 software and electrical engineers and master’s degree holders by training them hard under the world’s best faculty and in the state-of-the art labs. 

Dr Umar Saif said the graduating batch of ITU year 2017 had a wide array of experience in a diverse arena. They have sound theoretical understanding coupled with experience in practical environment as interns, he said and hoped that the presence of the industry representatives  in the job fair would be a morale-boosting factor for the ITU graduates.

He said that together with research orientation and entrepreneurial skills, ITU had equipped the first batch, since the inception of ITU four years back, for IT growth and to develop ICT solutions to compete with the world. Pakistan’s IT industry has constraints on supply side, which would be gradually removed,” he added.

Later, he talked to the media, and, replying to a question, Dr Umar Saif said the current advanced cyber warfare needed strict measures to address the security of servers and computers. However, security operation to protect the assets has been active for the last two years, he added.

The ITU job fair, organised in collaboration with Punjab Higher Education Commission, was attended by a host of companies.
