MANSEHRA: The Food Department officials on Friday refused to receive 33 truck of substandard wheat procured from Punjab.
“We procure wheat from Punjab to meet the food requirement of our district and 33 trucks consignment of substandard commodity have been sent back to Punjab,” Shaukat Sultan, the head of wheat stocks, told reporters on Friday.
“Our prime task is to ensure the procurement of 10500 metric tonnes of quality wheat from Punjab and we are doing our duty with utmost honesty,” he said.
He said the department had procured half of its targetted wheat at a price of Rs 1300 per 40 kg since May 1, when procurement process was launched in the district.
