Cleanliness drive launched in Kalash Valley

PESHAWAR: The Tourism Corporation, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP), has started installing quality benches in the tourist resorts, museums and worship places and cleanliness drive in the serene Kalash valley in Chitral district as part of the initiative to restore the natural beauty of scenic sites of the province and facilitate the visitors.

The drive has been launched under the World Bank project, “Economic Revitalization of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (ERKF),” to support economic recovery of crisis-affected areas of KP and Fata.

The students of a local school participated in the cleanliness drive in the Kalash valley. General Manager Tourism Information Centres (TICs) Muhammad Ali Syed and other officials inaugurated the cleanliness campaign, said a press release issued here on Friday.

The students collected plastics, papers and other wastes from the tourist places, museum and worship places in Kalash valley and disposed it.The officials later distributed books, other items and prizes among the students.

Under the ERKF project, the TCKP in collaboration with the World Bank also launched installing quality benches and dustbins in the scenic Berir, Rambur and Bumborat valleys to facilitate the tourists.

A tent village was also established in Kalash valley where the foreign and local tourists enjoyed their stay during the recent Chilamjusht festival.
