Uzair Baloch group’s ‘de-facto chief’ among 3 gangsters killed

Three notorious Lyari gangsters, including a commander seen by law enforcers as the de-facto chief of the Uzair Baloch gang, were killed and two policemen injured in a joint operation by law enforcers in Kalakot on Sunday.
According to Kalakot SHO Safdar Mashwani, a combined team of Rangers and police personnel raided a hideout in Rexer Line near Gabol Park that had been identified by an intelligence source.
“The criminals opened fire and lobbed grenades which resulted in injuries to two policemen, Khadim Hussain and Ashiq Ali,” said the SHO.
“However, we managed to kill three suspects, one of whom, Munib alias Maab Baloch, has been identified as one of Uzair Baloch’s top commanders.”
Terming his elimination a significant success in the Lyari operation, SHO Mashwani said Maab Baloch had practically been heading Uzair Baloch’s gang after the latter’s escape from the country.
“Maab was involved in several killings, including assassinations of PPP workers and leaders, as well as extortion and kidnappings,” he said.
He identified the other two killed suspects as Hasan s/o Abdul Hameed and Abid alias Baba alias Baba Golden.
“Abid was the younger brother of another wanted gangster, Jasim Golden,” he said.
The SHO added that a huge cache of weapons, including SMGs, bullets and hand grenades, were recovered from the hideout. “We have also found several uniforms of different law enforcement agencies,” he said.
Shooting victim dies
A young man who was shot and injured by assailants near a private university located close to Cattle Colony a few days ago died during treatment at a local hospital.
Shah Latif police said 22-year-old Badar Hamdani s/o Shahabuddin, a resident of Gulshan-e-Hadeed, was heading home from Saddar when he was shot.
The deceased was admitted to and remained under treatment at a private hospital in North Nazimabad, but his injuries proved fatal.
Police said Badar’s murder was most probably a case of personal enmity, as his friends who were with him at the time of the shooting had not been harmed by the attackers.
