Appropriate filling in of Nikah form empowers women and protect their rights and sections containing pro-women laws which are left incomplete or crossed by Nikah registrar is a crime.
This was stated by Punjab Commission on the Status of Women Chairperson Fauzia Viqar in an inaugural ceremony of two-day training of trainers for Nikah registrar and local government and community development officials for Lahore Division at Directorate of Staff Development Lahore.
She said this training was planned in collaboration with local government and community development department to train Nikah registrar as per the latest amendments introduced to laws by the Punjab government for ensuring the protection of Muslim family law, registration of marriage adequately. It is PCSW’s target to train more than 39,000 persons as Nikah registrar all over the Punjab. Chairperson emphasised that effective persuasive communication skills can produce the long-term and positive results to influence the opinion of the public towards laws. Meanwhile, Local Government Director Mian Hamza Wattoo mentioned that the department is committed to cooperate and coordinate with PCSW for providing protection to women laws at large.
