SUKKUR: Speakers at a seminar have urged the government to introduce economic and social reforms to tackle serious problems of social injustices, unemployment and poverty in the country here on Tuesday.
They said that widening inequalities prevailing in the society could be bridged by raising the wages of workers commensurate with price-hike and dealing with every citizen of the country equally under the law. They were addressing the seminar organised by the officials of the Sindh University and community leaders of Jamshoro, which was held at the University of Sindh, Jamshoro.
The SU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat said that quality education was must for development of society, adding that no nation could ever go to the path of progress without participation of women. He announced to establish two cadet colleges, one especially for girls, which would be run under the administration of the Sindh University.
“I have talked to the military high-ups in Hyderabad, they are ready to help the Sindh University in establishing two cadet college-like colleges for imparting quality education to children of employees, teachers, officers and residents of Jamshoro and suburbs”, he maintained. He said that the two schools running under the administration of the SU were not imparting contemporary and quality education.
Dr Burfat said the MRD and other movements in Pakistan, especially in Sindh, became successful in the past only due to participation of labourers, teachers, students and lawyers.
