PTI, PML-N workers clash outside KPC

KARACHI: The PTI and PML-N’s workers had a stiff face-off outside the Karachi Press Club on Sunday. It happened hours before both the parties had scheduled rallies in Karachi. A rally of the PTI was passing by, chanting anti-Nawaz slogans, which provoked the PML-N workers present outside the Karachi Press Club. Workers of both the parties started chanting slogans and threw stones at each other. The police reached the site of the dispute and brought the situation under control with the help of local leaders of both parties.
Man, three sons die as truck hits rickshaw

LAHORE: A man and his three sons were killed and two women injured when a speeding truck hit a rickshaw in the Shadbagh area on Sunday.The victims were identified as Mitho and his three sons, Farman, 8, Rehan, 6 and Tauseef, 3. The injured women were admitted to hospital where the condition of Mitho’s wife was stated to be precarious. The family was on their way back after attending a function at Manawan when the accident occurred.
Woman’s body found in canal

LAHORE: A 65-year-old woman was found dead in the BRB canal Batapur on Sunday.Some locals spotted the body in the canal and informed the police. Divers fished out the body from the canal and shifted it to morgue for autopsy. Police are investigating.
22 to be produced before ATC in Swat
CHITRAL: About 22 persons who were arrested after the April 21 Shahi Masjid incident were on Saturday shifted to Swat where they would be produced before the Anti-Terrorism Court. They had allegedly attacked the police station to demand handing over the man who had uttered some blasphemous remarks during the Friday prayers. The khateeb of the mosque, Maulana Khaleequz Zaman, had handed over to the accused to police. Earlier, a local court granted bail to 31 persons in the same. —Correspondent
Woman commits suicide

LAHORE: A 30-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself with a rope in the Nishtar Colony area on Sunday. The deceased woman was identified as Rabia of Kamaha Road, Nishtar Colony. Police said that the woman was depressed over domestic issues. On the day of the incident, she locked herself up in a room and hanged herself .
MANSEHRA: The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) has launched free transport service for the affected people of 4,200 megawatt Dassu Hydropower Project on Sunday. “We have fulfilled one of our commitments with the affected people of Dassu dam as free-of-cost air-conditioned transport service is being launched for them,” Mohammad Javed Akhtar, general manager, Dassu Hydropower Project, told a gathering in Dassu.The ceremony was attended among others by Upper Kohistan Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Asif and all 80 members of local committee of landowners.
