MARDAN: The main accused in the Mashal Khan murder case reportedly admitted firing at him as the police on Saturday produced six more suspects in a local court.

The court granted to the police four days of physical remand of the six accused.

The accused produced in the court included Usman, Suleman, Abbas alias
Sheno, all students of the Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan and Nawab Ali and Shabbir, both employees of the university.

They were arrested from different places on Friday.

The main accused in the case, Imran, in his statement told the court that he shot at Mashal Khan two times.

Like Mashal Khan, Imran is also a student of the Journalism and Mass Communication Department at the Abdul Wali Khan University.

Mashal Khan was lynched on April 13 by a mob of fellow students, university employees and some outsiders including an elected councillor.

The Mardan Police has reportedly identified 49 suspects through video footage in the lynching case and 47 have been arrested so far.

The two remaining suspects are said to have fled to the tribal areas to escape arrest.
