‘May will remain pleasant with rain and cool breezes’

The residents of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad will enjoy rain, cloudy weather and cool breezes in May, Met Office told ‘The News’ here on Saturday.

The clouds that were hovering over the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad brought rain, which made the weather pleasant for a couple of days.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Director Dr Muhammad Hanif said the month of May will not be severe. The residents will enjoy May as there will be rains, cloudy weather and cool breezes, he claimed. He said another rain spell will enter in upper parts of the country on May 2 while twin cities residents will enjoy rain and cloudy weather on May 3 and May 4, he hoped.

He has advised farmers to start cutting their crops in sunny weather because there will be rains in intervals.

The people were delighted and took a sigh of relief with temperatures rising gradually in the city. The children came out and played in the rain while the elders thanked Allah Almighty for providing relief from increasing temperature.

Dust-thunderstorm/rain associated with gusty winds and hailstorms at scattered places in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, Fata, AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan and at isolated places in Quetta, Zhob, Sibbi, Naseerabad divisions during 24 hours. Hot and dry weather is expected elsewhere in the country.

Meanwhile, seven billboards fell down in different areas in Rawalpindi because of wind and storm last night.

According to information three billboards fell down at Jhelum Road, two Gulistan Colony, one at Benazir Bhutto Road near Waris Khan and one at Mall Road.

The resident belonged to different walks of life strongly criticised increasing number of big billboards along roadsides as these are dangerous. They have appealed higher authorities to take up this issue as these giant hording are life risk.
