ACE DG orders case against own director

Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Director General Brig (r) Muzaffar Ali Ranjha has ordered registration of an FIR against one of establishment’s directors after an inquiry proved him guilty of corruption.

According to a spokesman for the ACE Punjab, the DG approved the recommendation of registration of an FIR against ACE’s Director Technical Aftab Ghani for taking millions of rupees bribe from government officials as well as from contractors on Friday.

The spokesman said FIR has been registered for another charge of having assets beyond his known sources of income. A contractor named Sheikh Sohail has also been booked in the same FIR. 

According to the spokesman, the ACE DG, on complaints against Aftab Ghani of taking bribe from various people, had ordered probe into the issue and formed a team comprising Additional Director General ACE Nadeem Sarwar, Director Legal Rana Anwar, Deputy Director Admin Aftab Rasool Tarar and Circle Officer ACE Lahore Raees Khan. 

The inquiry committee, the spokesman said, after a through probe against Aftab and Sohail proved them guilty of corruption. 

After finalisation of the inquiry, Muzaffar Ali Ranjha ordered registration of an FIR against both the accused and their accomplices for further probe. The DG said strict action will be taken against all the corrupt of the ACE, if there is any more, to put things right. 

Two found dead: Two people were found dead in different areas of the City on Friday.

An 80-year-old man was found lying dead on a road near Lorry Adda while a 45-year-old man was found dead at Shahdra Town. Police said both persons looked addicts. However, autopsies  would help ascertaining the causes of their deaths. Police have removed the bodies to morgue. 

Woman dies: A 25-year-old woman who was found lying unconscious at Sanda died in a hospital on Friday.

The woman was identified as Ayesha. She was admitted to hospital by an unidentified person to a  local hospital where she died. Police said it seemed some persons might have given her poisonous substance. As a result, her condition went critical. Police have started probing the incident. The body has been removed to morgue.
