Karachi’s weather set to take a turn for the worse

The weather in Karachi is set to take a turn for the worse over the next three to four days, according to officials of the meteorological department.

The department’s officials in Karachi have issued a warning regarding possibility of hot and dry weather over the coming three to four days, mainly due to a reduction in sea breeze and inflow of warm, dry winds from interior Sindh.

This combination, officials said, could lead to temperatures rising to around 38 to 40 degrees Celsius in Karachi. “We are predicting a short spell of hot and dry weather for the next three to four days. In this period, temperatures are expected to rise to 38-40 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday. Fortunately, with Labour Day falling on Monday, there are three holidays in a row so people have a chance to stay indoors,” said Shahid Abbas, information director at the PMD’s Karachi office.

On Friday, the maximum temperature in Karachi was recorded at 35 degrees Celsius, but due to the expected stoppage of sea breeze and change in wind direction, mercury levels in the port city are set to rise, he added.
