PTI submits resolution in Punjab PA over Nawaz-Jindal meeting
LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Thursday submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly while voicing concern over the secret meeting in Murree between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Sajjan Jindal, an Indian entrepreneur.
The resolution submitted by Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly, Mian Mehmoodul Rasheed, stated that the three- member delegation led by Sajjan Jindal called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Muree secretly. He said the meeting had caused serious concern among the Pakistani nation which wasn’t taken in the loop about it. “Was the meeting held to rescue the prime minister who is surrounded by crisis?” asked the resolution. Citing a TV report, the opposition leader, in the resolution, said a special message of Indian Prime Minister Narendera Modi was conveyed through the three-member delegation.
Moreover, talking to the media, the opposition leader also stated that at a time when RAW spy Kulbhshan Yadav was awaiting execution, India was constantly violating the Line of Control carrying out indiscriminate firing, and blatant violation of human rights was continued by Indian forces in held-Kashmir, this meeting comprising close aides of Modi had caused serious dismay in Pakistani citizens.
Moreover, the Punjab Assembly session on Thursday once again witnessed serious protest from the opposition which demanded immediate resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif unless he gets cleared from the Joint Investigation Team.
The opposition led by Mian Mehmood ul Rasheed chanted slogans against the prime minister, whereas, once again, the Treasury members continued bashing PTI Chairman Imran Khan for his alleged links with Jewish lobby.
Mian Mehmoodul Rasheed while speaking on the floor of the House said that people from all segments of society were demanding resignation of the prime minister due to his involvement in the Panama scam. He said it was necessary for the PM to clear himself of all the charges for which he must step down and appear before the JIT.
He also warned that the situation could get out of control if Nawaz continued in office amid all these controversies.Meanwhile, the PA on Thursday witnessed an interesting situation when a provincial minister lodged protest over the remarks of a female MPA belonging to the same ruling party. During the Question -Hour session which was related to Housing, Urban Development and Public HealthEngineering, the minister concerned, Haroon Sultan Bokhari, was responding to the queries when Nighat Nasir Sheikh, a PML-N MPA, expressing dissatisfaction over an answer, stated that she had asked a supplementary question but rather than answering it, the minister was giving his own ‘character certificate.’
These remarks angered the minister who protested and told the Chair that he belonged to a religious family but this woman had once again disrespected him and he wouldn’t answer her query. The minister on the occasion announced staging a walkout but the Speaker immediately stopped him but he didn’t answer further queries.
The House was also told that the Punjab government was setting up a treatment plant at the Ravi to filter sewage water. He said the Asian Development Bank had assured an assistance of 100 million dollar for the project which would be completed by the next four years.
