The clock is ticking

By our correspondents
April 25, 2017

On April 13th, the US dropped its biggest non-nuclear bomb – also called the ‘mother of all bombs’ – on a suspected Isis tunnel in Afghanistan. The GBU-43/B of – 21,600 pound - is supposed to be the biggest non-nuclear bomb in the US arsenal. The impact of the bomb was also noticed in the different areas of Khurrum Agency. After the incident, Russia did not stay quite. It’s powerful bomb is now making headlines. In 2007, Russia invented FOAB – The Father of all Bombs – having an impact radius of about 984 feet twice than that of GBU-43/B. Analysts hold the view that if the data of FOAB is accurate, it is inevitably more deadly and dangerous than MOAB.

Fortunately, the father of all bombs has never been used in combat. Although it was initially tested in 2007, it has not been dropped anywhere. This growing non-nuclear arms race is a serious matter for the whole world. After the drop of MOAB, Russian media and other media outfits have started promoting FOAB in different news stories – claiming it to be four times deadlier than the MOAB. The invention of bombs is not something to be proud of. What message are Russians and Americans giving to people by showcasing their powerful bombs? Is this a hint towards a war?
