Islamabad: A Punjab police officer was gunned down during an encounter with criminals in the jurisdiction of Noon Police Station on Friday morning.
Imran son of Saleem, the accused was involved in heinous crimes and wanted to Chakwal Police. The accused escaped from Chakwal and settled in Dhoke Maliar falling in the jurisdiction of Noon Police Station. After getting information about his hideout, a team of Chakwal Police reached Islamabad on Friday morning and conducted a raid at the hideout along with the Islamabad Police but the accused opened fire at the police. An assistant sub inspector Akhtar Hayat Jan got a bullet in his head during the encounter and died on the spot. The suspect managed to escape from the hideout. Heavy contingent of police cordoned off the area but couldn't hunt down the suspect.
