Rain likely to break dry spell on Monday

LAHORE

A new westerly weather system is expected to enter Pakistan on Monday, which will bring rain, dust-storms and thunderstorms over upper and some central parts of the country.

Met officials said that rain/thunderstorm associated with gusty winds is expected at scattered places of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Fata, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir from Monday to Thursday while isolated heavy falls is also expected in Malakand, Hazara divisions and Kashmir from Tuesday to Wednesday. Met office added that rain/dust-thunderstorm is also expected at scattered places of Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore and Faisalabad divisions and Islamabad from Monday to Wednesday while rain/thunderstorm with gusty winds is expected at isolated places of Quetta, Zhob, DG Khan, Multan and Sahiwal divisions on Monday/Tuesday. Met officials maintained that rain/thunderstorm with strong winds is expected in Islamabad/Rawalpindi from Tuesday to Thursday while isolated hailstorm is also likely to take place at a few places of upper Punjab, upper KP and Kashmir during the period. Meanwhile on Saturday (today), Met office predicted that mainly dry weather is expected in most parts of the country, while hot weather is expected in Sindh and South Punjab. However, light rain-thunderstorm (associated with gusty winds) is expected at isolated places of Malakand, Hazara divisions, Fata, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
