PESHAWAR: The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese Machinery Engineering Cooperation for the development of Dera Ismail Khan Daraband-I Special Economic Zone.

Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and other high-ups of the provincial government attended the ceremony. Under the MoU, the China Machinery Engineering Cooperation would develop a special Economic Zone at Dera Ismail Khan over an area of 1500 acres of land.

The chief minister in his brief remarks said the provincial government would install 225 megawatts electricity units in each industrial zone at Hattar, Motorway and Dera Ismail Khan. The electricity would be produced out of the natural gas that the province has and would be extended to the industrial units in these industrial zones, he added.
