‘Profiteers to face crackdown’

To ensure enforcement of prices of essential vegetables and fruits in open market, district administration has decided to start a crackdown on profiteers.

The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Lahore Sumair Ahmed Syed here on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of commission agents of fruits and vegetables market, Badami Bagh, President market Haji Shabbir, General Secretary Khalid Anwar, Secretary Market Committee Shahzad Cheema, Assistant Director Muhammad Shabbir and others.

Talking on this occasion, Lahore DC said it is our top responsibility to provide best quality fruit and vegetables to the citizens on cheap rates. He said the number of trucks carrying tomato entering the city are increasing and there will be noticeable reduction in the price of tomato and poultry in days to come.

He also urged upon commission agents to order and bring more trucks of tomato in city on which they ensured to cooperate with district administration and there will be maximum trucks loaded with tomato on Saturday and Sunday. 

The meeting also discussed different issues of fruits and vegetables market which DC Lahore promised to resolve within shortest possible time.
