CHARSADDA: Despite tall claims of the provincial government, several state-run schools in the district are still without any boundary walls even one month after the gruesome attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar.
After the Army Public School tragedy that claimed lives of 150 schoolchildren and other staff members and left other more than 100 injured, the government chalked out a security plan to prevent such incidents in future.
Implementing the guidelines, the district administration held a meeting with the officials of state-run and private sector educational institutions to ensure security of the schools.
But like other parts of the province, about 18 government-run schools in Charsadda are without boundary walls that has caused serious concern among the students and their parents about the safety of their children.
The teachers said they were more concerned about the safety of the children, than teaching standard at the schools, which remain a soft target for the terrorists.
District Education Officer Siraj Muhammad Khan, when asked to comment on the issue, said the boundary walls of most of the schools could not be erected due to differences between the landowners and Education Department over some issues.
The parents asked the high-ups of the Education Department to take note of the situation and provide funds for construction of the boundary walls and make foolproof security arrangements for security of the schools to prevent any untoward incident.
