Balochistan chief minister invites Karachi’s business community to invest in Gwadar
Balochistan Chief Minister Sardar Sanaullah Khan Zehri invited Karachi’s business community on Sunday to visit Gwadar and take advantage of the investment opportunities in the new port city.
Speaking as the chief guest at a ceremony held on Saturday night to unveil Gwadar Gymkhana, an upcoming project, Zehri assured Karachi’s business community that the province would provide them with protection, a business-friendly environment and all due privileges which were considered vital for the promotion of investment.
Your investment will not only remain secure, but you’ll also reap rich dividends,” he added.
Zehri said Gwadar would be the second city of the country built with proper planning as a comprehensive master plan had been prepared for this purpose.
“Our friendly nation China has extended us wholehearted assistance for the development of Gwadar and its progress means it will attract both local and foreign investors.
The Balochistan chief minister said his government was working on a number of projects to provide basic facilities to the residents of Gwadar and many schemes for providing basic civic facilities including education, health and clean drinking water had been launched for them.
He said that the biggest international airport of the country was being constructed in Gwadar with the assistance of China and the government had announced the necessary privileges for industrialists besides establishing a free economic zone for them there.
“I take pride in saying that Balochistan is transforming. Today’s Balochistan is entirely different from the one in the past,” he maintained.
He said thousands had attended a public meeting organised recently in Gwadar in connection with the visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif there and that showed that the people of Balochistan had full confidence in their leadership.
The Gwadar Gymkhana project will be completed in two years, providing recreational, dining, and sporting facilities to its members.
The Gymkhana will be built at a strategically ideal site adjacent to the Makran Coastal Highway and near the proposed Gwadar International Airport.
The chief minister lauded the launching of the Gwadar Gymkhana project.
He said that besides providing recreational activities, these projects would provide prospects for social networking.
“Like Dubai, Singapore and other international port cities, the provision of healthy recreational activities will be part of the process of Gwadar’s development,” he added.
He hoped that besides visitors, the residents of Gwadar too would able to avail the facilities at the Gymkhana and for this purpose they would be provided membership with a concession.
Zehri said Gwadar would soon become an international port city because of the construction of
the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
“Because of the presence of a deep-sea port, Gwadar will soon become the hub of economic and commercial activities in the country.”
