Man kills wife for not serving him breakfast on time
A man strangled his wife to death in North Karachi Sector-4 on Friday for being unable to serve him his breakfast on time.
Manzoor Ahmed, 47, infuriated over the delay in being served his breakfast, beat up his wife Sajjan Baloch, 18, and strangled her.
Khawaja Ajmer Nagri SHO Asif Munawar told The News that the neighbours informed police and Sajjan’s parents when they heard her screaming.
“By the time police reached Manzoor’s house, Sajjan’s parents had already taken her to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, but she had died by the time they took her there,” he added.
“The police then reached the hospital to collect her autopsy report.”
The officer said Sajjan’s post-mortem showed that she had been strangled to death.
Besides, it also revealed torture marks on her body suggesting that she was regularly subjected to torture.
The SHO said when Manzoor found out that police were inside his house and collecting evidence, he arrived at the police station and told them that his wife had committed suicide.
“When the police asked him why she had committed suicide, Manzoor claimed that Sajjan wanted to marry a young man, but her parents had forcibly married her off to him,” the SHO said.
“He further told the police that when he had had found out that she was forcibly married off, he had offered to divorce her but her parents had insisted that she was too young to understand right now and it will be fine with the passage of time.”
The officer said when the police received the autopsy report, they arrested Manzoor.
“During interrogation, Manzoor confessed to murdering his wife over being unable to prepare breakfast for him on time.”
In his statement, Manzoor told the police that he worked at a factory and had to reach work on time but often had to leave home without having breakfast. He added that he had asked his wife to prepare his breakfast early but when she failed to do so, he beat her up in a fit of rage and strangled her to death.
Manzoor told the police that he had warned his wife several times to wake up early but she refused to do so.
Police have registered a case against Manzoor on the complaint of Sajjan’s father, Miandad. The father said in his statement that he had married off Sajjan to Manzoor eight months ago and believed that they were living happily together. Miandad said Manzoor had warned several times that he would divorce Sajjan, but he had requested him not to do so.
