Pakistan not established for loot, plunder: CM

Stresses harmony to accomplish dream of Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Iqbal; vows to defeat terrorist mindset; pays tributes to martyred soldiers in Orakzai Agency

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in his message on the Pakistan Day has congratulated the nation and said: “We today need the same unity and harmony that was displayed on March 23, 1940”. 

We can make progress and make Pakistan greater and greater by displaying determination and harmony to accomplish the dream of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal. Pakistan was not established for loot, plunder, rigging, nepotism and extortion, but this country was established to give equal rights of progress to all and for justified distribution of resources, the CM said. He said unfortunately the rulers of the past distracted the country from its real destination. He said the Resolution of Pakistan played an important role in the establishment of Pakistan and March 23 is also the day to pay homage to mujahedeen of Pakistan Movement. 

The CM paid tributes to courage and bravely of Major Mudassar Saghir and Sepoy Matiullah who were martyred in Orakzai Agency. He said they have sacrificed their lives for peace in the motherland. He said the army, police, security institutions and ordinary citizens have rendered unprecedented sacrifices in the war against terrorism. 

Secretary of State for Home Department, UK, Ms Amber Rudd called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and discussed matters of mutual interest, promotion of bilateral ties and enhancement of cooperation in various fields. They also decided to take further speedy steps to promote bilateral cooperation in the future. Praising the excellent measures for development in various fields by the Punjab government under the leadership of the CM, the Secretary said Shahbaz Sharif has taken best measures for the welfare of people in Punjab and without any doubt under the leadership of the chief minister excellent measures of public welfare have been taken and that she is pleased to notice visible improvement especially in the various fields including education, health and the protection of women’s rights. She said certainly the Punjab government has achieved various important targets and we have learned from you. She congratulated the chief minister over the elimination of child labour from brick kilns and said ridding the children of child labour is your achievement. The CM said Pakistan and the UK have historic ties which are based on mutual respect and the increasing cooperating between both countries is praiseworthy. He said the whole nation is united to eliminate terrorism and the nation has resolved to uproot terrorism. He said political and civilian leadership has taken coordinated measures for the elimination of terrorism, extremism and sectarianism. He said the unprecedented sacrifices rendered by Pakistan in the war against terrorism are matchless in the world history. He said: “We will also defeat terrorist mindset along with terrorists and their facilitators. He said terrorists are only terrorists and they have no religion and geographic identity”. The Punjab government has set up special anti-terrorism force for the elimination of terrorism, he said, adding this force has been given modern training and this force is proving to be the first field formation against terrorism.
