Phone system inaugurated

Punjab University (PU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir inaugurated telephone exchange system at the university’s Department of Examinations on Friday. 

PU Controller Examination Prof Dr Shahid Munir, Additional Controller Shahid Javed and Additional Controller Muhammad Rauf Nawaz were also present. 

The VC said the candidates who wanted to inquire about examinations, degrees, admissions wer could now dial 042-111-00-1882 for guidance. He said telephone exchange was also linked with registrar and treasurer's office and relevant calls would be transferred to both offices. He said the varsity had launched this facilitation centre in which hundred calls would be entertained simultaneously. He said that in future more steps would be taken to facilitate the students.   

Meanwhile, the VC addressed a certificate-distribution ceremony of the five-day 13th National Honeybee Farming and Management Training Workshop. Dr Zafar Mueen said universities had important role in economic and social uplift of society and added PU must work for improving quality of honey to enhance exports.

He said entrepreneurship would be promoted in honeybee keeping and business schools would also participate in the next workshop. He advised the participants of the workshop to transfer skills to others. Faculty of Life Sciences Dean Prof Dr Naeem Khan, Chairman Dr Javed Iqbal Qazi, Honeybee Research Farm Chairperson  Dr Nasreen Muzaffar, participants from all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir and many public and private sector institutions were also present.
