Chinese engineers and experts have arrived in Quetta to start work on the Quetta mass-transit train project. According to official sources, the Chinese have prepared a feasibility report and sought a no-objection certificate from the Pakistani government. The chief minister of Balochistan, Sanaullah Zehri, assured the Chinese workers that all the facilities needed to prepare the report for the train’s route will be provided. This project is a part of CPEC and this train will run from Spezant to Kuchlak. The government has allocated a budget of Rs1 billion as an initial investment to commence the project. The establishment of this train project will prove to be immensely beneficial for the people of Quetta.
The city and the province, however, have yet to resolve the issue of illiteracy. The government has to give importance to education in Balochistan because, according to the report of the National Educational Management Information System (NEMIS), 70 percent children are still out of school in the province.
