No polio case in Lahore: DC

LAHORE 

Lahore Deputy Commissioner kicked off three-day polio drive in the Metropolitan city by administering anti-polio drops to children under five years of age in the city. He stated that the environmental samples of polio, taken from drains, are negative and it is fortunate that there is no polio case in Lahore city.

CEO Health Authority Lahore Dr Zulfiqar Ahmed, DDO Health and others were also present on this occasion. Firstly, the DC paid a surprise visit to Mian Munshi Hospital to check the working of polio teams where he also administered anti-polio drops to under five years children visiting polio desk established at the hospital.

Later on, he went to Shafiqabad locality on Band Road where he also administered anti-polio drops to the children of Pashtun family. Talking to reporters, Lahore DC Sumair Ahmed Syed said 4,370 teams were administering anti-polio drops to more than 1.6 million children in a three-day polio drive which was being monitored by ACs and sub-registrar.
