Remembering Edhi
Edhi’s philanthropy made him famous across the world. But unfortunately on Tuesday (Feb 28), nothing was done on the government level to commemorate Edhi’s contributions to the country. From a very young age, Edhi started serving the poor segment of our society. He became the guardian of around 20,000 orphans. He built many orphanages, shelters for the old and helpless women and men. He provided food, shelter, and medicines to the needy without any discrimination. For 48 years, he ran the famous Edhi Ambulances service across the country to mitigate the miseries of people in need. His services were for the sake of humanity for which he was honoured internationally and nationally. He had been running the world’s largest charity ambulance service since 2005. He lived a simple life.
He preached one thing: No religion is higher than humanity. We should continue his work with great zeal and zest to honour him. Abdul Sattar Edhi will always remain in our hearts.
