YDA resume duties at Services Hospital emergency, indoor wards
LAHORE: Young Doctors Association (YDA) on Friday evening announced resuming medical services at the emergency and indoor wards at the Services Hospital following deployment of police in the hospital for ‘provision of security to the patients.’
Earlier during the day, visiting patients faced disappointment at the Services Hospital while already scheduled operations could not be performed either. Scores of people also protested against the young doctors who had stopped medical services at the hospital following a raid by Anti-Corruption to arrest YDA office-bearer Dr Atif Chaudhry in a corruption case four days ago. As many as 17 doctors and other officials of Services Hospital were nominated in the corruption case in the hospital.
The YDA also announced that the young doctors, however, would continue observing strike in the outdoor wards of the hospital till acceptance of their demands which included withdrawal of the cases.
For the last four days, the YDA observed complete strike in Services Hospital causing immense problems to the patients as hospital administration also failed in making alternative arrangements.
Hospital management responded that only one post of BS-19 was vacant which is to be filled through direct recruitment
