Woman gives birth to quadruplets

NOWSHERA: A woman gave birth to quadruplets at a private hospital here on Thursday, a doctor said.Lady Doctor Surgeon Naila Munawar said that one Shahid Ali had brought his wife for labour to a private hospital in the Nowshera Cantonment.The children born through a major surgery, she said, adding, that the woman gave birth to three boys and a girl child.“The babies are healthy. The woman and children had been discharged from the hospital,” she added. Shahid Ali, the father of the newborns, was very excited and distributed sweets to celebrate the happy occasion.

 

Man seeks remission in jail term

PESHAWAR: Pervez Khan, who is serving life-term in the Haripur Prison, has appealed to President Mamnoon Hussain to remit his sentence so that he could spend the rest of his life with his family.

Pervez Khan has been shifted to District Headquarters Hospital from Haripur Jail after his condition deteriorated.Umar Farooq, son of Pervez Khan, told The News that his father was imprisoned for life in a fabricated drug smuggling case. His father, he said, was diabetic and could not even walk due to problem with his left leg.

The citizen complained that not a single court in the country held an inquiry as to whether his father was implicated in a drug case. He appealed to the president to order his release on a humanitarian ground.

 

Under-23 sports trials kick off in Lower Dir

TIMERGARA: The 4-day under-23 sports trials started at various tehsils in Lower Dir district here on Thursday. In this connection the inaugural function was held at Timergara where district nazim Muhammad Rasool Khan, assistant commissioner Timergara Ubaidullah Khattak, Tehsil nazim Riaz Muhammad, sports officer Bahadar Said BISE Director Physical Education (DPE) Muhammad Tayyib, all sports association Lower Dir president Malik Shah Nasim, sports assistant Ibrar Ahmad and a large number of players were present on the occasion. District nazim Malik Muhammad Rasool Khan formally inaugurated the sports trials.
