PESHAWAR: The lawyer community on Wednesday observed a strike across the province against the suicide attack on local courts in Tangi tehsil of Charsadda district in which eight people, including a four-year-old child, were killed and 25 others injured.

The lawyer community stayed away from courts  across the province on the call of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council. Like other districts, the Peshawar High Court and subordinate courts adjourned the cases due to lawyers' boycott.

Meanwhile, PHC Chief Justice Yahya Afridi visited the local courts in Tangi and inspected the area and security measures.

The chief justice met the judges and lawyers of Tangi Bar Association. During his visit and talks with the lawyers, he appreciated the timely action of the local police for thwarting the attack by not allowing the terrorists to enter the courts premises and saved both the litigants and lawyers.

The chief justice thanked the security personnel for their rapid action and hoped that in future too, the nefarious designs of the terrorists would be foiled with such bravery.

The chief justice expressed grief over the casualties in the incident and prayed for early recovery of the injured people.
