LAHORE

PTI leader Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said that Rangers must be given powers without any limitations and interference from the government in Punjab as this is the only way Rangers will be effective.

Addressing the inauguration of the party office at Husnainabad, Lahore Cantt, Ch Sarwar said that terrorism could be eliminated by rooting out corruption and poverty and educating the population.

Other PTI senior party leaders, including Hamid Khan and Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf were also present. Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said institutions needed to be depoliticised. He said political interference was causing problems in the institutions. He said that corruption, terrorism and inflation had played havoc with the nation. He said all facilitators along with the sympathisers of terrorism must be arrested.

Police and other institutions are not working independently because of obstacles being placed in their way, he said, adding that the obstacles must be removed for smooth functioning of institutions. Hamid Khan alleged that the rulers were not serious in eradicating corruption because they themselves were involved in it.

Meanwhile, Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmood ul Rasheed chaired parliamentary meeting of PTI which decided to continue exerting pressure on the ruling party in and outside PA over Panama issue and protest against the Speaker’s decision of rejecting the reference seeking the chief minister’s disqualification.
