Shahdara hospital gets 10 new dialysis machines
LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Kh. Salman Rafique has said the Punjab government is providing best treatment facilities to people with latest treatment and diagnostic facilities.
New hospitals are being constructed in different districts to reduce the workload on the tertiary care hospitals of Lahore, he said and added that during the last three years bed capacity had been increased and a large number of beds included in hospitals. “Government Shahdara Teaching Hospital would be made a model hospital by providing latest facilities and equipment to ensure the provision of quality healthcare to the public at local level,” he said while inaugurating 10 new dialysis machines in the dialysis unit of the hospital on Monday.
Punjab Minister for Primary & Secondary Health Kh. Imran Nazir also accompanied him. Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof. Dr. Fakhar Imam, Malik Riaz MNA, MS Govt. Shahdra Hospital Dr. Pervaiz Imtiaz, President Patients Welfare Society Malik Tariq and a large number of Muslim League workers and the hospital staff were also present.
MS Dr. Pervaiz Imtiaz informed the ministers that due to the provision of latest diagnostic and treatment facilities the turnover of patients had increased manifold. He said that latest surgical and medical facilities were being provided in the hospital and specialist doctors had been posted in the Government Shahdara Hospital. He said the dialysis unit had specialists of urology and nephrology. He said that previously 14 dialysis machines were installed in the unit while another 10 dialysis machines had been included in the dialysis unit with the help of philanthropists through Patients Welfare Society.
Kh. Imran Nazir, while addressing the ceremony said that efforts were being made to provide best care health facilities in Shahdra Teaching Hospital so that people should not proceed to Lahore in search of healthcare. He said that day by day the hospital would further be upgraded and more specialties would be introduced in the hospital. Malik Riaz MNA, said that Government Shahdra Teaching Hospital was a precious gift from the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to the poor people of Shahdra and its adjoining areas.
Besides, Vice Chancellor FJMU Prof. Fakhar Imam, President Patients Welfare Society also addressed the occasion and appreciated the cooperation of philanthropists for providing dialysis machines to the hospital.
