ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Private School Sports Association won the World Schools Cricket T20 and 50-overs-a-side Challenge Cups 2016 in Melbourne, Australia, and dedicated the victory to the martyrs of APS.
The tournament saw Pakistan school boys accounting for India, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa in round robin league of both formats to emerge champions.
In first T20 match Pakistan edged out India by four wickets, winning in the last over.
Pakistan beat South Africa by seven wickets.
In their first 50-overs match Pakistani boys restricted the Australians to 115 and achieved the target in 24th over for the loss of just two wickets.
They defeated India by seven wickets. India were all out for 122 in 42 overs. Ismail Ishaq (5-19) bowled well. Pakistan boys reached the target in 20 overs. Irshad Mirza (41) and Hassan Nasir (58 not out) batted well.
Pakistan beat New Zealand comfortably by seven wickets. New Zealand scored 246 for eight in 50 overs. Pakistan reached the target for the loss of three wickets in 43 overs. Irshad Mirza (112 not out) played outstandingly. Hassan Nasir shined again with solid 68.
Pakistan restricted South Africa to 91 in 32 overs. Ismail Ishaq took three wickets and Hassan Nasir four.
Pakistan achieved the target easily with another brilliant knock by Hassan Nasir, who scored 56 not out. The team returns from Australia on Monday (today).
