Minister opens work on lawyers’ hospital

PROVINCIAL Minister for Law, Finance, Excise and Taxation, Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said the provision of modern health facilities is the top priority of the government and the budget for health sector has been gradually increased.
He said the lawyers played an important role in the provision of justice to citizens and the government attached due importance to their welfare. He said that a grant of three crore rupees had been provided on behalf of the Punjab chief minister for the construction of lawyers’ hospital and the process of provision of funds would be continued in future as well.
He said this while addressing an inaugural ceremony of the first phase of lawyers’ hospital on Dev Samaj Road. President Lahore Bar Association Ch. Muhammad Ishtiaq, Ch. Saleem Ladi, Qaseem Aslam Hanjra and a large number of lawyers were also present.
Mujtaba said the provision of modern health and educational facilities was the priority of the government and funds of two billion rupees had been provided for achieving the Millennium Development Goals. He said that Rs. eight billion 75 crore had been provided for the provision of free medicines to poor patients while a sum of 60 crore rupees was being spent on the provision of free medicines and dialysis facilities to the kidney patients.
Later, talking to media-men, Mujtaba said the educational institutions would reopen in Punjab on January 12 and security plan was being executed speedily for this purpose. He said that according to the information received by the government, 90 percent schools had completed their security arrangements while this process was continuing in other schools also.
