Pildat team visits Senate

ISLAMABAD: A 53-member delegation of the 8th Youth Parliamentary Assembly, Pildat, visited Gali-e-Dastoor at Parliament House Friday and was briefed about the parliamentary and constitutional history of Pakistan besides the role, composition, working and performance of the Senate. 

While briefing the delegation, Additional Secretary Senate Dr Pervez Abbas said that the Senate of Pakistan has designed an exclusive and indigenous Parliamentary Education Programme (PEP) to create awareness about the benefits of the parliamentary system of government and connect people with the democratic institutions to bridge trust gap.

He also informed the visitors about salient features of the PEP and initiatives undertaken by the Senate to establish better institutional linkages and create awareness. 

Dr Abbas said that the Senate an was making endeavors to increase its outreach through this programme. “A number of initiatives have been taken under the dynamic leadership of Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani to improve connectivity with the public” Dr. Pervez Abbas said. 

Members of the delegation also asked questions about the legislative and oversight role of the Senate. They appreciated the new initiatives and Gal-e-Dastoor hoping that these steps would help in establishing true democracy in Pakistan.
