Elders protest suspension of cellular service in Bajaur
KHAR: The tribal elders staged a protest against the suspension of cellular service in Bajaur Agency and urged the government to left the restriction and restore the service immediately.
The tribal elders first held a meeting in Khar, the administrative headquarters of Bajaur Agency and then staged the protest against the suspension of the service. They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the suspension of the cellular service.
Tribal elders who attended the meeting and participated in the protest included Malik Qadir Khan, Malik Abdul Nasir, Malik Fida, Dr Khalilur Rehman and others. The speakers said that mobile phone service has been suspended in almost all parts of Bajaur Agency for the past several months. They said the service was suspended without citing any reason, which they termed an injustice. They said the suspension of the service had rendered hundreds of tribespeople associated with the mobile phone business jobless. They demanded Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Corps Commander Peshawar Lieutenant General Hidayatur Rehman and political administration to restore the service or else they would stage a protest outside the Governor’s House in Peshawar.
