Aircraft tragedy widely grieved

President, PM, COAS, Imran, Bilawal, others express sorrow

ISLAMABAD: Almost all the political and civil society leaders and people from all walks of life on Wednesday expressed deep shock and grief over the Havellian plane crash that killed 42 passengers and five crew members.

Social media sites were abundant with grief messages from the common people to celebrities.President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed profound grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the PIA crash.

The president commiserated with the bereaved families and prayed that Allah Almighty grant them courage to bear their irreparable loss with fortitude.Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed the departments concerned to provide full emergency help and assistance to the family members regarding the whereabouts of the passengers and keep him updated on the evolving situation.

In a statement sympathising deeply with the loved ones of the passengers on the unfortunate flight, the prime minister said the entire nation was deeply saddened over the unfortunate crash and shares the grief of the families who lost their dear ones.

Prime Minister Nawaz prayed to Almighty Allah to bless the departed souls with eternal peace and grant of courage to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude.In the meanwhile, a number of steps have been taken on the direction of the prime minister for provision of assistance to the bereaved families.

The steps are: National Emergency Operation Centre is activated for coordination and any assistance from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) at the air crash venue; in tehsil Havelian district Abbottabad. The National Emergency Operation Centre is activated for coordination and any assistance from NDMA 051-9205037; the NDMA has advised the PDMA and district administration to transport all the casualties to a single hospital for recognition and further transportation.

The Ministry of Interior has placed its helicopters on the disposal of the NDMA to evacuate the bodies. The search operation was conducted by by district administration, police, and army troops. The Nadra chairman is being asked for transportation of mobile biometric teams for recognition purposes. The district administration has been taken on board through the PDMA chairman, while Nadra has activated mobile biometric team to identify the bodies. A facilitation centre has been established by the DCO Abbottabad. The deputy commissioner, Abbottabad office, confirmed that burnt bodies will be shifted to the Ayub Medical Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad. The contact number is 0992-9310200.

Also, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has expressed deepest grief over the tragic loss of precious lives in the PIA plane crash near Havelian.An ISPR statement quoted him as saying: “We stand shoulder to shoulder with the bereaved families at this difficult time.”

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also expressed his deep sense of sorrow and grief over the crash and said that this tragic incident had grieved the whole nation.In a condolence message, the chief minister said that he equally shared the grief of the bereaved families and all his sympathies were with them.

He also prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the members of bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.

Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan also expressed his grief saying in a tweet: “Shocked & saddened by the tragic PIA plane crash near HavelIan. May Allah give the families of the deceased courage to bear their loss.”

Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari tweeted: “So sad. 47 precious lives lost in an unfortunate air crash. Pray, Allah grants the families strength to bear this loss.”Minister of State for Information Broadcasting and National Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb expressed her shock and deep grief over the tragic crash.

She said the loss of precious lives in the accident, including Junaid Jamshed, was a great loss to the people of Pakistan.The minister prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude.
