Mayor discusses LG challenges with US CG

City mayor Waseem Akhtar on Wednesday spoke to US Consul General in Karachi Grace Shelton about the challenges being faced by the local government and municipal authorities in their efforts to improve Karachi’s civic affairs. 

CG Shelton called on Akhtar at his office and the meeting revolved around matters of mutual interest and discussions on the local government system and development of Karachi. 

The mayor apprised the consul general about the challenges being faced by the KMC in providing better municipal services to Karachi’s around 25million residents. 

Akhtar spoke of the persistently increasing population of the city and how this was compounding the metropolis’ civic affairs. 

However, the mayor said Karachi still offers lucrative investment opportunities and all possible efforts would be made to improve matters and bring in more investors.
