An anti-terrorism court judge heard at the central prison on Saturday a case against notorious gang leader Uzair Baloch, Pakistan People’s Party MNA Shahjahan Baloch and others, who face charges of killing another rival gang leader, Arshad Pappu, and issued non-bailable warrants against absconding gangsters including Zahid Ladla and Noor Muhammad alias Baba Ladla. It fixed December 20 as the next date of hearing.
Shahjahan Baloch, Uzair, his brother Zubair and other under accused were produced before judge. Pappu was murdered in March 2013 allegedly by Uzair Baloch and his accomplices to avenge his father’s killing.
Uzair was allegedly assisted by police officials in carrying out the murder including inspector Chand Khan Niazi and SHOs Yousuf Baloch and Javed Baloch, who too are under detention.
Pappu was abducted from Defence Housing Authority and then handed over to Uzair’s gang. Pappu and two members of his gang were then beheaded and their corpses were desecrated, a video of which had gone viral on social media. He was earlier been acquitted in the murder case of Uzair’s father, Faiz Muhammad alias Mama Faizu.
Uzair, a gangster and leader of the People’s Aman Committee, was booked in a number of cases pertaining to the charges of killings, facilitating killings, possession of illegal arms and explosives and police encounters. Baloch had confessed before a joint investigative team about his involvement in the killing of 197 people.
