LAHORE: The families and relatives of two kids recovered dead from a drain on Saturday continued their protest on Monday and demanded justice.
They alleged that the kids were killed by some unidentified miscreants and later thrown into the drain. They said they had searched their kids in the drain till late Friday, but they could not find their bodies. They questioned how the police recovered the bodies from the drain the very next day.
They demanded the government immediately cover the nullah. They said a contractor had started the work to cover the drain, but he left it incomplete as the government had stopped paying him money.
Minister Rana Mashood visited the locality and assured people that the drain will be covered soon. He announced Rs500,000 for the families of each child. Victim Moawiya’s uncle said the police should conduct DNA tests to ascertain whether the kids were sexually assaulted.
