PESHAWAR: A group of people from Chitral district on Sunday asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to honour his commitment about loan waiver to the calamity-hit people of the far-off valley.

“The prime minister had announced to write off the agriculture loans during the trip to the valley two years back. However, the authorities are harassing the people in the name of recovery,” Irshad Javed advocate and others told a group of reporters here.

They urged the prime minister to take note of the situation and issue notification about the waiver of agricultural loans as the dwellers of the area have been facing severe financial problems.

They appreciated the Nawaz Sharif-led Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government for launching several uplift schemes in Chitral.“The PML-N government has intensified work on the Lowari Tunnel and also launched several projects for the development of Chitral,” he went on to add.He added the road projects announced by the prime minister would usher in a new era of development in the area.
