The consumption of frozen food is hazardous to the health of consumers because of the preservatives added in such food items. Table salt is commonly used as a preservative and its abundance is dangerous to the human body. The high level of sodium – because of the presence of table salt – in frozen food causes fever, diarrhoea, dizziness etc. Other synthetic compounds such as polysorbate 80 and yeast extract are also bad for health. Frozen food is a ‘silent killer’ since the chemicals used for its preservation carry a great threat to the health of consumers.
Living in the fast-paced world, these easy-to-cook food items are considered an easy way to prepare meals. But they have adverse effects on the human body. It is our responsibility to create awareness among the people of the country regarding the potential risks of the processed and frozen food to the wellbeing of people. Although it is not possible to abandon the use of preservatives in food items, the excessive intake of such food items should be avoided.
