NAB arrests three PDA officials
PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday arrested three officials of Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) for alleged involvement in illegal agreement through private lease treaty for allotment of shop/ commercial area in Commercial Complex Phase-V Hayatabad.
The NAB KP through a communiqué said during the course of inquiry, the evidence has been collected that shows that the accused, Abdul Bais, deputy director, Syed Jaffar Ali Shah, housing officer and Mehmood Tariq, general manager Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), caused huge loss to the public exchequer by misusing the authority.
The whole process was conducted in violation of applicable law, rules and regulations, it said, adding as per applicable laws, rules and regulation, the commercial properties were to be allotted through open auction only which may have fetched up huge funds to PDA in shape of premium. Thus the accused persons in connivance with other officers of PDA has committed the offence of corruption and corrupts practices cognisable u/s 9 (a) of NAO 1999.
