PESHAWAR: The relatives of the labourers languishing in a prison in Oman on Tuesday asked the federal government to take the issue with the relevant authorities to secure release of their near and dear ones.
The protesters had gathered outside the building of the Peshawar Press Club to stage the protest. They were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of their demands.
Speaking on the occasion, Muqtadar Khan, Riaz Khan, Sohaib Ahmad and others said that their relatives had gone to Muscat in Oman on valid work visas.Some said their relatives were languishing in prison for the last 3-5 years. “They are imprisoned for no reason. They are being punished without committing any crime,” said Muqtadar Khan.
He said the families of these labourers had been going through severe mental agony for the last several years.They asked the government to take up the issue with authorities of Oman and bring back their relatives home as soon as possible.
