Three terror suspects arrested; explosives seized
LAHORE
Counter-Terrorism Department Gujranwala claimed to have arrested three suspected terrorists on Monday.
A CTD spokesperson said they received a tip-off that three terrorists who were identified as Ali Raza, a resident of Lahore, Jawad Hamza, a resident of Mirpurkhas and Atif Mushtaq, a resident of Toba Tek Singh were planning to attack a shrine in Gujranwala.
A CTD team raided on the information a hideout near Eminabad, Gujranwala at 4am and arrested the terrorists. Police also recovered 1,900 gram explosives, two detonators non-electric, three safety fuse, and pamphlets of ISIS. Suspects belonged to proscribed organisation ISIS. They have been moved to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
HIT TO DEATH: A 40-year-old man died in a road accident in the Naulakha police limits on Monday.Police said the victim identified as Muhammad Tufail, a resident of Misri Shah, was trying to cross the road in front of Lahore Railway Station. Suddenly, a fast moving truck hit him. The victim received fatal injuries and fell down. He was shifted to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
Police removed the body to morgue and registered a case. In another incident, a 20-year-old man died in a road accident in the Nishter Colony police limits on Monday.
Police said the victim identified as Nasir Abbass, a resident of Ravi Road, was going somewhere on his bike. As he reached near Nishter Colony Bazaar on Ferozpur Road, he collided with another motorcycle. The victim fell down and a tractor trolley ran over him. The victim received fatal injuries and was shifted to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. Police removed the body to morgue.
FOUND DEAD: A 50-year-old unidentified man was found dead in Badami Bagh on Monday.A passerby spotted the victim lying in an unconscious condition and informed police. They reached the spot on information and removed the body to morgue. Police said the victim looked like a drug-addict and might have died due to excessive use of drugs.
body found: Body of a 23-year-old man was recovered from the Naseerabad area on Monday. Police said the victim identified as Sunny was a drug-addict and had been missing from his home for the last few days.
On the day of the incident, a passerby spotted his body and informed police. Police collected forensic evidences from crime scene and recorded statements of the eye-witnesses.
Police said the arms of the victim were cut with a sharp-edged weapon. Circumstantial evidences suggested that he was tortured before being killed. Police have registered a murder case and removed the body to morgue.
FIRE: Valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees reduced to ashes in a factory in Raiwind City on Monday.Rescue officials that fire broke out in a paper mill in Ijtama Chowk. The nearby people and employees tried to control it but failed. On which, they called Rescue 1122. They reached the spot on information and controlled fire.
In another incident, valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were burnt in an incident of fire in Township on Monday.Rescue officials said fire broke out in a house. Residents of the house tried to control it but failed. On which, they called rescue teams who reached the spot and controlled fire.
In yet another incident, valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were burnt in a tower of a mobile company in the Masti gate area on Monday.Rescue officials said the fire broke out in a panel of a mobile tower. Nearby people tried to control it but failed. They called Rescue 1122 who reached the spot and controlled fire.
PRAISED: Zonal Commander DIG Motorway Police Mirza Faran Baig has appreciated the NH&MP patrolling officers over their excellent performance, which they showed during the world’s second largest Raiwind Tableeghi Ijtema on national highways.
Sector Commander SSP Masroor Alam Kolachi briefed Zonal Commander DIG Mirza Faran Baig about the outstanding performance of the police at the Raiwind congregation during which even not a single traffic jam was observed on National Highways N-5 Central (Lahore to Rahimyar Khan).
DIG Mirza Faran said the Motorway Police had ensured smooth flow of traffic during the four-day long congregation as no incident took place in the vicinity of the N-5, Central. The NH&MP had also chalked out a comprehensive plan for the departure of the participants, he remarked. There was no hindrance of any kind in the smooth flow of traffic at the end of the congregation.
The National Highways and Motorway Police cops ensured maximum travel facilities to the pilgrims, he added. Briefing material (“Hadayat Naama”) with the consultation of the Shura of Tabligi Ijtima was prepared and 20,000 copies of “Hadayat Naama” were distributed to drivers by MEU and patrolling officers, he said.
The Zonal Commander DIG Mirza Faran Baig hailed the performance of NH&MP officers and saying that consistent commitment demonstrated by the officers in providing services to road users and pilgrims were highly commendable and he also awarded Commendation Certificates among the patrolling officers for excellent performance.
Transfers: The Punjab government has notified the transfer and posting of officers on Monday. According to the notification issued by the S&GAD, Hafiz Abdul Majeed, Additional Secretary Department of Public Prosecution, was posted as Director Admin Punjab Textbook Board. Abdul Shakoor (awaiting posting) was posted as Additional Secretary Public Prosecution department.
Mohammad Ramadan, OSD, was appointed as EDO Finance and Planning Lodheran. Raja Zafar Iqbal Deputy Secretary Human Rights and Minority Affairs was transferred and posted as Deputy Secretary Zakat and Usher. Deputy Secretary Environment Khalid Mahmood Tipu was transferred and posted as Secretary Punjab Textbook Board. Services of Zubaida Khanum Deputy Secretary Special Education were entrusted to the Federation. Saima Younis, Deputy Director Admin Arid Area Development was transferred and posted as District Officer Coordination Rawalpindi.
Moreover, the Punjab government appointed chief pilot, the pilot and the Co-pilot for three-year contract. Brig (retd) Mohammad Waqar Khan was appointed as the chief pilot of VIP flights in grade 20 of the S&GAD. Pilot Lt Col (retd) Haider Riaz Bangash was posted as flight pilot S& GAD and Mohammad Akhlaq was posted as Co-pilot in grade 19. Services & General Administration Department issued a notification in this regard.
