The anti-encroachment unit of the board of revenue (BoR), on instructions of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, got 27 acres of government land, in Scheme 33, vacated, on Thursday.
The AEU led by director Nawaz Sohu along with 150 policemen razed the boundary wall constructed around an area measuring 17 acres in Scheme 33, Deh Thoming.
Estimated to be around Rs300 million, the land was reportedly encroached upon by Waseem Khan, who had launched an Al-Mustafa Housing scheme on the government’s land and had started allotting plots fraudulently.
The BoR Zone-II police registered an FIR against the builder and handed over its investigation to Inspector Shabbir Ahmed.
The team conducted another operation in the same area, and got another 10 acres of government land vacated from Faiz Mohammad Palari. The AEU bulldozed the boundary wall and registered a case against the man Palari and bulldozed his offices and boundary wall constructed on the land.
Appreciating the BoR’s efforts, Murad directed senior member BoR, Rizwan Memon, to take extra ordinary measures to intensify operation against land grabbers.
He further directed the SMBR to take land grabbers to task after mapping the government’s encroached land.
