KPEC obtains 10 days physical remand of academician

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission (KPEC) on Friday obtained 10 days physical remand of an academician and chairman of the Department of Physics at the Islamia College University Dr Naeem Khalid.

He was arrested on Thursday on charges of misuse of authority and corrupt practices.The Ehtesab Court Judge, Subhan Sher, granted the remand of the chairman of the Department of Physics. The KPEC officials produced him before the court and requested remand of the academician.

Through a press release, the KPEC alleged that Dr Naeem Khalid was allegedly involved in illegal appointments and misappropriation of funds during the procurement of equipment for the department.

The KPEC prosecutor said that Dr Naeem Khalid had illegally appointed lecturers at his department. He added that around 300 computers were purchased for the laboratory in the department in which the suspect had misappropriated funds.
