ISLAMABAD: Policy Research Institute of Market Economy (Prime) , an Islamabad based think tank has given number one rank to Ministry of IT & Telecom led by State Minister Anusha Rahman in a performance audit of ten federal ministries between the period July 2013 and September 2014.
Prime has ranked the ministries in terms of its achievement in relation to the promises made in PML N Manifesto.The Ministry of IT & Telecom has got a score of 6 out of 10 in the Prime performance audit. The ministry got the top slot for its efficient conduct of 3G/4G auction worth $1.18 billion and realisation of auction proceeds from successful bidders. Already the broadband subscribers of 3G/4G Networks have crossed five million and its one of the most successful rollouts in 3G/4G segment.
The ministry is already preparing for auction of remaining spectrum in 4G and is working on other nationwide ICT projects. The Ministry of Commerce has scored second position with a score of 5 out of 10 whereas the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Communications score a joint third position with a score of 4 out of 10. The Ministry of Water and Power has the last position in Prime performance audit.
