Pakistan beat Malaysia to reach final

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan beat Malaysia 3-2 on penalties Saturday to set up intriguing clash in the final against arch rival India in the Fourth Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2016 at Kuantan.
Following 1-1 draw at the scheduled time, Pakistan came out head high on penalties converting three of the four while Malaysia could manage goals on two of five to hand over victory to Pakistan.
Earlier, in the first semi-final of the tournament, India defeated South Korea 5-4 on penalty shootouts to reach the final of the Champions Trophy.
India won the inaugural 2011 edition of the Champions Trophy, while Pakistan have been two-time champion, winning it in 2012 and 2013.
Pakistan have won the Champions Trophy more than any other participating team. The green team defeated its traditional rival India by 5-4 in the final of 2012 edition. The final will now be played on Sunday.
