The residents of Channi area, a remote village in the capital city, have demanded of the government to construct a bridge in their area as
the suspension bridge currently being used by them
is in a dilapidated condition and poses danger to their
life.

Abid Hussain, a resident of Channi area in Charra union council, said four people have so far lost their lives after falling down from the suspension bridge and if new bridge is not constructed then many more people can fall prey to it.

"The old and ramshackle hanging bridge is the only way to link Channi village with other parts of the metropolis.

A large number of schoolchildren have to cross it daily so their parents always feel worried about their safety," he said.

It is pertinent to mention here that Channi village falls in NA-49 and many
prominent political figures have been elected from
this constituency but there is still a need to raise voice
for the residents of this village.

Rimsha Imtiaz, a schoolgirl, said wooden planks are now missing on various spots of the suspension bridge so she cannot cross it at her own, adding "My brother helps me cross the bridge that is a real danger for them."

"If there is a rain then we often don't go to school as our parents never allow us to cross the bridge.

A girl named Memoona recently fell from the bridge and injured her jaw," she said.
