PESHAWAR: Amir Muqam, adviser to the prime minister, on Saturday said PTI) chief Imran Khan should wait for the Supreme Court decision on the petitions regarding the Panama Papers instead of shutting down Islamabad.

The apex court, he said, would decide who had stolen the country’s resources and embezzled the public funds.

Addressing the 35th death anniversary of Abdul Qayyum Khan, Amir Muqam said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had given an opportunity to the PTI to form government and work for their welfare but its chief minister and ministers were involved in corruption.

Even the chief minister was accused by one of his cabinet members of minting money from illegal mining and appointments, he added.

He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had brought development in the country in the form of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) but opposition leaders, especially of PTI, were doing politics on non-issues to create hurdles. But the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would not become part any agitation against CPEC.

Amir Muqam accused the PTI of duplicity, saying it was blaming the PML-N government for taking loans to launch development projects but the Khattak-led provincial government had inked a treaty with international donors for the Swat Expressway and power projects in the province.
